A bunch I disgruntled players came up with a math basses point system for the AoS scrolls.
it seems to be broken down to the level of what weapon option a unit is even using. :)
and them numbers are not an entirely different number scale from the 8th edition numbers.
it's no perfect, but it's a web based and they plan on improving it as they test it.

That is what I was trying to do in the other thread.
Theirs is a more complicated looking formula. They maybe better maths majors than I am. :)

Yea, I'm thinking their formula holds great promise. ;)

But the formula can't cover sinergies or special rules.

There's no point in Slann who is able to summon whatever he wants, to cost less than any unit he could bring on the battlefield.

But the formula can't cover synergies...
Does a formula really need to? Synergies start to happen because of player decisions. Ultimately, the goal of a point value system is to have the game decided by dice-rolls and the decisions the players make.

Well its like playing chess with all your pawns having the rules of queen.

Well [ ___________ ] is like playing chess with all your pawns having the rules of queen.

What goes in the blank?
-Age of Sigmar?
-One of the proposed formulae?
-A Slann?

Presumably one would use the formula to establish a baseline. Then you would adjust the points value up for exotic non-quantifiable abilities via arbitrary decisions educated guesses on what's appropriate.

Then when you find out something is imbalanced, change it again.

I would leave the points alone, and put my faith in the restriction teams around the world to cancel out broken combos :)
