Dwarfs, Empire, O&G and Vampire Counts. 2 more expansion packs + additional content from what I can understand. Translated: This is going to be the biggest DLC rape ever.

The Total War PC series is is a combination of real time strategy (RTS) and turn based strategy. Meaning that you have a world map with where you can conquer territories, build/expan your cities and raise armies/units.

During the RTS segment you control the army you have on the world map (if two armies clashes). You have a deployment zone and can move your units around however you like. Once battle starts it's all destroying your opponent, if you're besieging a castle there's also a capture point.

They're really quite good, although at times the AI can be weird and the games are known to have unfortunate bugs and glitches at their launch.

You can argue that the game feature a RPG segment in the way that your generals, spies etc can gain levels and you can choose between gaining more of 3 different stats. With the addition of Rome 2 Total War Creative Assembly gave generals a whole bunch of special abilities kinda making them into these weird fantasy heroes. I'm guessing the heroes in Warhammer fantasy will have similiar abilities since the system is already there.

Good looking trailer.

I didn't think Lizzies would make an appearance, they rarely do in GW video games.

We're not missing anything. First iterations of TW games suck. Lizardmen will hopefully be in the second or third installment, which will have ironed out all the bugs, and include all the content that was promised in the first game but never delivered.

Yeah, I'm still butthurt over Empire.

Typical armies to be included tbh. Curious at the the lack of HE/DE/Chaos faction. They're usually the other armies to be doted on.

It's very easy for them to include an expansion with DE/HE at war against each other and maybe something like Chaos vs humans (which would include Britonnia as the second army). That would be qute typical tbh.

The rest can very easily follow as faction DLC and it's not even sure that everything will be included. I could easily see lizardmen and tomb kings be excluded...

Does it not look like a tzeenth greater deamon being summoned by the end of the trailer?

Although Chaos is somehow involved in the world, they've already official announced on steam that there are only four factions to begin. Vampire Counts, Empire, Dwarfs, and Greenskins. Really awesome start to this universe, knowing CA they'll be trying to add every single race as that's kind of their specialty.

With two stand-alones already announced (Likely New World to bring in High/Dark Elves with Lizardmen and Skaven and an expanded old world pack to introduce Bretonnia, Wood Elves, and the chaos factions) and DLC's coming in I think this will be the most expansive and wonderful medium ever to b given the Warhammer universe

That's a good point. Chaos is typically involved in just about everything they produce.

Wait a year buy it on sale with all dlc. Hate the movement towards milking your customers for all they are worth.
QFT

DLC is a huge money grab. Sometimes it really feels like the content should have been included in the original game.

Watch Chaos be pre-order DLC.

I am not familiar with PC games (total war) but that trailer looked pretty cool.

Can anybody please tell me what game style id total war?

Is it an RPG, MMO, more like an age of empires kinda thing or something totally diferent?

Thanks guys!

I think it was a RTS (real time strategy) game,
so kinda like warhammer in real time...

Honestly, I'm just glad that someone is actually trying to make a decent warhammer fantasy game. I always thought that the total war games would do well modded into WHF, but looks like now we can get an actual game.

Here's a screen shot,
I think it's from the first version on the game,
there where a lot of sequels.

Back in my day the entire game was included on the cartridge *grumble grumble*

i remember those days fondly. Maybe I'm a dwarf and I just don't like change!

Does anyone know off hand if this game will be available on consoles?

Thanks! @n810 i really apreciate the explanation.

Sounds interesting! I thibk i will be giving it a try when it comes out.

I was also reading about it and it seems this is obly the first of three releases, maybe the other races will be included in the next ones

Unlikely, RTS games are difficult to play without a mouse.
but who knows...
