It's getting cold out and CCP virus lockdown measures are increasing. How will you keep occupied while stuck inside? By writing poetry of course. The Winter Solstice will soon be upon us, Praise be to Huanchi!

The nerd I am, I would have liked to make the contest deadline be the Winter Solstice but if that is the case I should have started this about a week ago to have a full month entry window, so I'm making the deadline December 31st instead.

I could have started the contest on the solstice but then there is a big overlap with the January-February writing contest, so we'll go with starting now and ending on New Year's Eve.

The Theme
There is none. Choose whatever theme you like so long as it is at least somewhat related to Lizardmen, Seraphon, Salamanders or Saurian Ancients.

The Rules
There are none. (Apart from the following)(So in actual fact there are some rules, I lied to you, I am sorry)

-Keep your poem to an artistic minimum. Word count wont be stressed about too much in here, but ideally the poem should be more than two lines.
-Keep it anonymous. Don't use your own name in the poem or use someone else's name throw them off the scent
-Keep Lizardmen in the story or some aspect of their world / lore.
-Keep visuals and images to a minimum or none at all this is a poetry competition.
-Keep em coming,
-Multiple entries are allowed from the same person!
(limit of three per person though just for sanity's sake)

The winner will be decided by public vote at the end of the deadline -December 31st 2020, midnight US Central Time. Please send a private message to me, @Scalenex to send a submission. Probably have voting open for two to three weeks.

I aim to do these twice a year. Next one will likely be around the Summer Solstice in honor of mighty Chotec.

Okay, thinking cap back on.

I have entered my poem. Time to focus on the short story  still no idea.

Perhaps another poem will sprout along the upcoming days and festivities.

Grrr, Imrahil

Right out the gate, I got a couple poems submitted by eager beavers...then nothing.

We have about a week to go. Whether this time of year makes you sad or jolly, the emotions should stimulate the muse of poetry!

Eight is great but don't hesitate! There is still time to write and make it through the gate.

Remember, a single author can submit up to three poems. But note, if you want to submit more than one entry, please use separate private messages, to do put multiple poems in a single thread is a good way to ensure I make a mistake.

Because a lot of people like to send successive drafts of the same poem or story, I will instinctively copy and paste the bottom most poem on any conversation thread.

Tomorrow, I'm going to have a small Covid-friendly New Year's gathering (it's also my spawning pool day!) and then sleep, so I probably won't g able to organize and compile the entries till noonish on January 1st, so nobody panic if the poetry contest entries are not immediately posted.

I will be moderately busy tomorrow and will probably unable to give a running subtotal of poems as the count gradually increases. Will it stay at 8? Go up to 9? 16? You'll have to wait to find out which Number of the Day Song I'm going to use.
