8th Ed. What to get first

I think I may go pick up some stuff to start off my Lizards tomorrow. Besides obviously the codex, what else should I begin to purchase? My goal is to hit about 2k-2250 in points, but I'd like to play smaller games while I acquire units. I'm not familiar with the lists as of yet, but any info will help. thanks!

The battalion box is an exellent starter set. Everything in the box you could use without much compromise.

Stegadon box is also great, as it comes to two plastic characters as well.

Lastly, if your planning on using one, a Slaan.

You may also want some extra saurus warriors, depending on how much you would like to spend, or possibly some more TG.

thanks man! Yeah I want to use a Slann for sure (don't know if I want Kroak or the regular model), and definitly a Steg. I'm looking over the lists before I head over to the store and pick a couple things up. Now I just need to settle on color (Thinking a golden yellow color or something).

Any other suggestions for a new player?

Do consider Salamanders. I had 3 sitting around without being used for a good while and only tried them now in 8th.
I think I fell in love when I saw what they did.

How good are Chameleon Skinks and Razordons?

Chameleons are nice, move long-range double tap and still poisenimg is awsome since they march and shoot,
Razordons, not so much, I was a huge fan in the last edition, but they have been sooooo far eclipsed by salamanders there's no real question anymore, only reason I'd take them now was if I already had 3 units of sallies and didn't have any other models,,,,,
Pity, such a good concept,
