8th Ed. What models do I need to buy

YAY so I have started building my 1st lizardmen army

I have not had a game with them yet but these are the models I have so far:
1x KROQ-GAR
1x SLANN MAGE-PRIEST
2x SCAR VETERAN
1x SKINK PRIEST
30x SAURUS WARRIORS
40x SKINK SKIRMISHERS
10x SKINK COHORTS
3x TERRADON RIDERS
5x COLD ONE CAVALRY
6x KROXIGORS
6x CHAMELEON SKINKS
3x SALAMANDER HUNTING PACKS

Are there any essential models that are a must have in a game. Currently Me and my mate play 600points then build up every meet up over the year so I have till January to get and build/paint new models

Any tips for a noob?

Depends on what type of army you're wanting to build. In my opinion, the more versatility the better. You don't want to run the same stuff over and over. Looks like you could use a few big dinos. Some stegidons or bastilidons might be a good idea. I go through phases of what I like to run. Currently, I run very few dinos and lots of cold one cavalry. I don't like putting points into a giant beast that might not make it into combat due to nasty insta kill magic or artillery. But as I said, I go through phases. Next year I might run three stegidons with duel carnosaurs... Actually that's not a bad idea... You might also consider another 30 saurus when you get into bigger games. They are pretty solid and dependable core units for the price.

+ Cold one Riders Box (5 as cold one riders, 3 as cowboys)
+ Lizardmen Skink Box (24 skink w/ javelins & shield)
+ Stegadon Box
+ Bastiladon Box
+ 2x Templeguard Box

With that you army is pretty finished.

Thanks guys for the advice.

I had a bastiladon and skinks arrive the other day so few more models to go yet. I am so tempted to get at least one of everything I just love the models.
As I now have a 11 days off over the Christmas period I am hoping to get really stuck in to this army.
