KoW What KOW army would you start?

Oh one additionnal information, in case you were not aware we already know since a long time about a coming supplement with new major factions, one for each alignement :

- Good : the Northen alliance, Elves with ice magic, ogre mercenaries, northen humans, snow trolls, ice elementals, ...
- Neutral : living humans, undead servitors, djinns or other bound spirits, and *maybe* serpent men as their secret masters (this last point is pure theory from a small line in the rulebook background and the RC giving hints during the betas)
- Evil : Twilight Kin (dark elves), they already have a list availalble as PDF (and fully tested during the beta), but they are not happy about the current army design (ie : "chaos/abyssal elves") and are trying to make them somewhat more unique, that's why their current list has not been printed in a supplement, it's a stop gap while waiting for their final version.

We are probably at minimum several month before they even start working activelly on this supplement, so don't expect it before at best late 2016, or maybe 2017, but still, if you are planning of starting other armies over the long terme, then it's good to have an idea of what is coming (at worst you might for exemple start a winter themed elven or human army and convert it later into a northen alliance force)

I had the idea of doing a winter based Dwarf army, I'm in no rush as I have loads of projects that need finishing!

Lots of great stuff here, thank you @Jack Trowell for your input and information.

I really like how the KOW undead look. If I had to start a KOW army I would probably go that route.

Also I really like how open the human-empire list is, really leaves you free to do ANYTHING you want with it. If I had the chance I would love to get a few samurai models and resin cast/covert a good medieval Japanese daimyo/Nipponese army.

A winter based dwarf army would be amazing though. Something like @mousekiller 's dwarfs, great inspiration!

I've bought some Wights and Zombie trolls and they are good, not as detailed as GW but that is a big plus in my eyes, Mantic seem to have focused on gaming rather than modelling, also have 6 Ogre shooters and they look cool.

The Undead are a really cool army, look great and they can be a very very effective force, the 1250 list me and @Itepixcauh came up with totally destroyed a 1250 Ogre army.

The Dwarfs are a future project but one that will happen ;)

And Mantic remains fully affordable, vs the $90 three mount cavalry coming out from some companies now. I have heard that they are refining the miniatures and some of the newer ones might be a little better sculpted, but if the aim is army building I think the models they have are great. The remind me a lot of the mid 90s stuff that was coming out.

I managed to find the Dwarf starter army for £32 that is great value.:)

Wow, the starter is already a very good deal at £49.99, but at 32 it's almost a steal, where did you find it at this price ?

Well... Reading all this here makes starting a new army much more appealing... Maybe some dwarfs, too? Got to check what's available! In every case the price for non gw models seems to make the hobby much more affordable...

Very much so, also look at avatar of war some great looking dwarfs

Also for most KoW armies, Reaper usually has great and cheap models, maybe not for the units themselves (usually), but almost alsways for heroes and monsters, especially in the Bones range for even cheaper price.

They a have a nice Dwarven heroine on bear that will make a very good King (well, Queen) on beast for exemple.
Another option is the scibor king on bear who is even more impressive, but it's not the same price. ^_^

I have looked at the Scibor model and it is fantastic, so far my dwarf army consists off,

Mantic starter army
30 Avatar of war Doomcrushers
20 Avatar of war Pathfinders
Avatar of war Pathfinder champion (Herneas Hunter, Ranger captain)
Avatar of war Rune priest (Danor the wizard, Stone priest)

Take a look at this dwarves, they are made by a spanish company, and I think they look amazing:

No, R&F is 1 Euro a mini. Seems fair to me.

1 euro per mini for resin models is really cheap.

i wonder if I might use them to convert into abyssal dwarves ? Thanks for the link anyway.

Oooooh I missed that !

Depending on their scale I might use them as Black souls (normal Abyssal dwarf infantry) aside my immortal guard (elite infantry), or the reverse.

Thanks again.
