Hey, Ive been playing warhammer for a number of years and am looking to start the lizardmen. Below is an army list I came up with (I do own the army book) and it is currently what I plan on buying. Let me know how it looks, espcially because it may prevent me from buying something I then wont use again! :P

The plan is the Oldblood on carny deploys on one flank with the Cav. The Steg and one unit of skink screen + Krox deploys on the other, and the warriors + remaining unit of skink screen + krox takes the middle. Im hoping to get some nasty flank charges in with the Oldblood, hence the spawning of Huanchi (can you imagine the look on my opponents face when that guy comes flying through a forest into their flank? Ignoring difficult terrian ftw!)

One note. The Oldblood on Carnosaur is not negotiable. Im taking one no matter what. However, advice on equipement is always nice :meh:

Oh, dont know if this is relevent, but my regular opponents (guys in my gaming group) are Dark Elves (with a Lord on Dragon), Vampire Counts, Bretonnians, Ogres, and a new guy starting Daemons. I play against DE and VC more then the others, and thats my brother and a close friend's army.

Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the site :)

Looks like a strong list and should do well. Lots of nasty monsters in there!

I've always prefered the aura of quetzl over the glyph necklace, since it's those strength 5 attacks which are most likely to give the guy trouble

Stonehambey

I agree with Stonehambey, that list should handle most things pretty efficiantly. I play ogres a lot I haven't found them to be much of a threat, however deamons are a problem for every army. Never fought the other two with lizards so I can't offer advice there, but I think the list you got will do great. Good Luck with your new army.

Here's some thoughts,

As the armies general (and a good chunk of it), you probably need to fiddle around with him a bit. First, it is important to note the "Models on Foot only" which begins the description of the Blessed Spawning of Huanchi :) .

Beyond this main point, I would suggest fiddling around with the magic items some. As mentioned, the Aura of Quetzl will serve you better than the Glyph Necklace, as your 2+ save from the rest of your equipment ensures that you'll be relying on the ward save for cannonballs and the like. I myself have never felt that the revered blade makes back its points. A sword of might or BBoC will do the trick and leave you with ~45-50 pts to beef up other areas in your list.

With 2 lvl 2s maxed out in anti-magic gear, you're wasting the priest's potential to either lock down a phase or actually to be competitive in the magic phase. If your intention was to prevent your enemy from getting any spells through during the game, I would suggest dropping the magic level upgrades on both and giving the Skink priest with the cube a blessed spawning of the old ones (allowing you to re-roll for the cubes effect). If you want to be more flexible, I would suggest dropping the cube for the diadem of power. This way, you can remain defensive with 2 additional dispel dice a turn, or against opponents with a light magic phase, you can switch to the offensive.

Considering all the other missile magnets you have in your list (krox, stegadon, carn, etc.), you would probably be better served by the Huanchi totem. IMO the sun standard is pretty useless, as with the Huanchi totem you can advance behind a screen of skinks, move the skinks aside when you are within 17-15", and use Huanchi to get the Saurus Cavalry into combat the same turn.

You might want to consider investing in sallies instead of a steg, as your list has little to handle an opponent's fast cav. and general flankers. A unit of salamanders should ensure that your battle line wont get bogged down by annoyance units (skinks should focus on being a missile screen or annoying the enemy, after all). Also, as you already have a terror-causing unit in our army, a steg is slightly redundant.

Well, it looks so far like my model choices are fine, its just my gear that may be an issue. Which is excellent, as changing gear doesnt leave me with useless models.

Ill consider the salamandes. I do really like the Steg though, so he might stay. Maybe I do a couple games with proxies, none of my buddies will care in the least.
