What things count as "spells" for unbinding? Just the things explicitly listed as spells on a wizard warscroll or does for example the praying of a lord relictant also count as a spell for the purpose of unbinding? I mean, it's clearly some form of magic, but it isn't an explicit spell. And if it doesn't that'd mean that you can unbind close to nothing given how limited actual wizards appear to be.

Your first take was correct, anything that is explicitly under the spells section for wizards can be unbound.

In regards to your second comment, whilst there is certainly limited diversity in options for casters there are some incredibly powerful spells that you really do not want getting cast. Unbinding can be integral to getting through games intact, but it is more a counterbalance to magic than a core theme to be built around.

fair enough, though a bit dissapointing. It'd be interestin to make an ability Reliant army, or one that counters them. Especially considering that some abilities aren't really any worse than some spells. The Relictors lightningstorm is essentially an arcane bolt, just shorter ranged & an Engine of the Gods can easily compete with some wizards. Would be fun if they could also be unbinded, even if they came with specific rules (e.g. I'd imagine a powerfull artifact like an engine of the gods would be far more difficult to stop than a "mere" wizard)

That would be nice, but yeah, an arky that relies in prayers can be quite good .
