Haven't really seen anyone talking about the new book on here. Has anyone played it yet?

What are people thinking about using for mercenaries? Personally, I feel like High Elves are the only real plausible mercenaries fluff-wise. I could see recruiting some heavy cavalry, long range support (bolt throwers/archers), or even a dragon/Phoenix. For all that we are the original good guys, we don't tend to play well with others. Of course, fluff isn't going to matter to everyone...

It's 85 dollars for 90 pages, of which 3 have rules. It's not going to be played much, after such a lame duck release.

Personally, I'll be using some wood elves when I feel a need for mercenaries.

Yeah when I (imho) got burned on Storm of Magic I decided not to buy any more of these supplements. This one def looks like fun, but w mostly fluff and only a few new rules $85 seems a bit steep... Luckily one of my friends already bought it so if I ever wanna play I can just hit up Mr Moneybags!

Hmm...I knew there was quite a bit of fluff and art, but all of the rules really boil down to just 3 pages!? Even with all the tokens and cards that come with, that price is definitely hard to swallow. 3 pages!? Sounds like a wasted opportunity...

I have it but haven't played a game yet. Rules are a bit more than three pages but not very long, no. It has many refreshing ideas for multiplayer games and it's a very nice book all in all. But in terms of value for money it's still pretty weak if you compare it to the likes of Storm of Magic or Apocalypse (both of which I own, play and love). Those have the basic rules covered pretty quickly too, but also dozens of pages of new units (or new ways to field existing units). Given that mercenaries are a concept in the book I can't help feeling there are 50 pages of mercenary units missing from the book.

The merc rules are horrible.
Engineer + 3 cannons seems like a staple to me (either human or dwarf).

They should have required more points on allied core than other allies; at least that would have balanced it out a bit.

Ive played a 3k game and a 1k game and i personally love it so far. We dont use the mercenary rules all that much though

Aussie dollar is basically on par with the US dollar

Theres always a bargain on eBay you just have to be a little patient

Had my first T&T (T n' T?) game yesterday and its an over-abundance of fun!

While it has it roots in WHFB the feel of it is something completely different.
The game structure is much more random, but remains structured enough for you to plan things....and gets those plans broken:

One of the most entertaining parts of the game is knowing that everything you do can potentially be affected by one of the cards in your opponents hand.
(For Magic the gathering players these cards functions will be familiar, as they really give the feeling of meddling your opponents turn with a nasty spoiling "instant" spell).

do yourself a favor in your game group and invest in it. It wont take over your normal games, but its a very refreshing way to play once in a while being 3 or more players.

I have actually planned to get ahold of it seeing as we usually play 3 or 4 man in a room with only one table large enough to play on, the usual 2v2's are getting boring, and i bet this would spruce it up a notch
