Okay, so, tomorrow morning is a relatively large-ish tournament at my FLGS, and I want to talk about what would be a good list.
Last tournament I didn't do poorly, but Match 1, turn 1, I throw a 1 on cupped hands, and lose 3 wizard levels on my slann, so it hurt bad.

I can tell from previous experience that the field is going to be a mixture of Poison-Sniper Maneater Ogres, Warriors of Chaos with the kitted-out chosen, and a few book of hoeth High Elves.

Below is my tentative list. I haven't settled on a lore yet, but it'll probably be Life unless anyone wants to advise a better one. I just don't know how to deal effectively with poison-sniper Maneaters coming at my slann Turn 1.

The lesson here is that cuped hands is for miscast protection, Not for trying to blow up the other wizard on the first turn. :artist:

I second that, everytime I deliberately try to miscast with Cupped Hands, I regret it. I don't roll many ones, I usually miscast my next roll with three dice.

List looks solid, I prefer Standard of Discipline over Huanchi's standard but that's a personal preference.
