8th Ed. Tournament Army

HI guys,

I have a tournament coming up at the end of Jan and have put together an army list that I have played with a few times but any advice would be helpful as haven't been playing with lizardmen for too long

SKink priest
Stegadon with Engine of the gods

Ancient stegadon

2 x 20 squads of saurus worrios

1 x saurus oldblood on coldone

Slann mage priest
1 2 squad of ten skinks (he is in this squd just to give him some protection

7 x skink skrimishers

1 x razadon

1 x salamander

Not big on models on the board i know for a 1250 army. Saurus I am using in 4 ranks of 5

Any ideas welcome

There is no way that is 1250 points.

It looks VERY over the top in terms of toys.

I don't think you can have 7x Skink skirmishers did you mean chamo skinks?

This also should probably go in the army list part of the forum

Its a 2000pts army

And when posting an army what have you given each unit, commands, magic items etc
Just means the forum and give you constructive critism
and if you want an example of a 2000pts list and how to present it it should look like this (advertisment of my list )

as already said it has to be more than 1250 for a number of reasons:

1- you can't field a slaan in an army less than 1500 points due to max points allowed for lords (25% of army total)
2- to field both a slaan and an oldblood your army would have to be at least 2000 points, but to give them equipment probably more like 2500 for the same reason as 1.
3- to field a preist with steg and EOTG, again at least 2000 points.
4- i have NEVER seen a slaan have skinks as the unit he joins, but ok
5- unless they are chameleon skinks, skirmishers have a minimum unit size of 10 i think, pretty sure anyway

Take a look in army lists to see how most write a list on here, do that and it will be much easier for us to help you out.

I loaded your army (as listed) into army builder. You are NOT at 1250pts.

With out ANY magic on the SLANN, OB, PRIEST your points are 1525.

You are at 450pts for Lords and 312 are allowed @ 1250
You are at 355pts for Heros and 312 are allowed @ 1250

Skink Skirmishers must be at 10 unless your running Chams. (I loaded them as regular skinks)

If you are running 7 chams your points would be 1539. (NOT INCLUDING MAGIC for lords/hero)

You need to review the armies posted and redo your list and repost it.

Actually Batu, i make it 1834, he has an ancient steg as well as the one for the preist as i read it, so 1734 give or take, don't have my army book at hand.

Based on that you could make a 1850 list: meaning 25% limit= 462.5 points

Therefore based on current list, taking the 7 skinks as chameleons

Lords- 420 - can't be more than 462.5
Heroes- 355 - can't be more than 462.5
Core- 540 - must be at least 462.5
Special- 84
Rare- 435- can't be more than 462.5

Total (approx)- 1834

This legally would work as it is, enough core (just) and within limits for lords, heroes and rare. Problem is this is without ANY equipment for ANYBODY, not even command groups for the saurus.

Also what you would have to do is make the razordon and sally either both sally or both razordon because for armies less than 2k i believe you can only have 2 rare choices, which would be the ancient steg and a razor OR sally hunting pack consisting of 2 monsters and 6 handlers. Can someone confirm that please?

Based on the fact you ARE going to want equipment, i'd look at making it 2k minimum, or to kit them out better, 2.5k.

Oh and to be completely accurate, the preists steg must be an ancient steg to carry the EOTG.

hey guys,

Sorry have been away for a few days so have seen your posts but have not been able to get my hands on my list. The biggest mistake I made was that it is a 2200 army! Here is my list with everything included

Slann Mage Priest
(battle standard bearer)
Higher state of conciousness
Focus of Mystery
The Becalming cogitation
Divine Plaque of Protection

Skink Priest

Engine of the Gods

Saurus Scar Vet
Light Armour
Shield
Cold One
Sword of Hornet
Carnosaur Pendant

10 x skinks
(musician)

2 x 20 saurus warriors
(full command in each squad)

8 x skink skirmishers

3 x terradon riders

1 x Ancient Stegadon
1 x razadon
1 x salamander

As I worked it out after all this I had 36 points spare. I normally put the slann in the squad of skinks. I know that this sounds bad but he is crap in combat and i wanted to give him at least a look out sir!

when you say " 8 skink skirmishers" do you mean chameleon skinks or normal skinks.

If u mean chameleons its ok but normal skinks have a minimum unit size of 10.

also you might be over the points limit for your heros. maybe

Both his lord and heros are in % allowence.

And if your slann has HSoC just shove him 3 inches from your saurus units.

He will benefit from a 4+ Look out sir
Then he is ethreal (sp?)
And has a 2+ ward vs shouting people (can you tell I'm deffinately not a IG player )
