8th Ed. Tomb Kings or Skaven?

Hi,

My dad and i bought a tomb king army and we were going to sell it. to get the most money possible, my dad who is a professional figure painter (its his job) painted them to a high standard. with the money we get from it , we were gonna buy a skaven army. We are reconsidering it and wonder if it is just better to keep the tomb kings as they are assembled, and painted or buy a skaven army. with the tomb kings though we would need to buy those new monstery things and the new codex. What do you guys think?
 
I think it gets down to whether your father would enjoy painting hundreds of rats or not. Skaven are an army based on large numbers of cheap troops so there'd be a lot of repetitive painting.

I think you should run with Tomb Kings, find a 1920s explorer model and paint it to look like Brendan Fraiser. Then you could have him running in terror for the armies of the Egyptian undead like in the Mummy 1 and 2
 
Personally, I am a skaven player, but I like the models of Tomb Kings better. This in my opinion comes down to whether or no your going to want to paint up a horde army. I own the Tomb Kings armybook, but have not read it yet so I personally do not know the pros and cons of the army. I do know the pros and cons of a Skaven army though and IMHO they are one of the better armies in the games becuase of their low cost Skaven slave units.

My vote would be for Skaven as well. Not really on the merits of Skaven as I don't really like them much either, but preferrable to TK because they can be really fun to play with some of their crazy stuff adding a bit of randomness and they can be an extremely competitive list if you want. I've lost to plenty of skaven players. Damn that bell and hell pits...
 
Tomb Kings are not my favourite army (durr I'm in a Lizardmen forum), but I do think they're one of the cooler ones in WHFB. :3

I prefer them over Skaven, I say go with Tomb Kings! :)
 
I prefer any army over skaven (very biased) but the tomb kings seem to consistently hold their wn and pull off good wins while skaven seem very high risk high reward but thats my cents
