So im in the process of selling off models and doing a deal where the guy will be buying my models i want. I am looking into starting lizardmen, I have about 200$ worth that i can get. I was thinking something along the lines of Getting the battleforce box, a box of skinks, warriors, and 2 priests. Is there much else i should get right away or should trade out to have a decent list and still have fun with it?

How many points do you plan? How competitive?
My tips:
Cavalry (to use as scar-vets and old-bloods)
1 Priest
about 25 saurus
about 30-50 skinks
1 box of flyers
Step 2:
Slann
maybe about 25 temple guards/ more skinks/ 25 more saurus
1 more box of flyers
Step 3:
depending on what kind of army you want.
Monsters, salamanders, cavalry
one more skink priest.
The things under step 1 can be used in almost every list, and I believe it's a good start.

The battalion will give you a box of saurus, skinks, cold ones, and temple guard. After that i'd buy another box of skinks and saurus and then move onto "step 2".
Here is where i'd decide if you want to fill out the temple guard or add more options. A slann is a great choice here, then i'd pick up more temple guard to bring your total TG count to 30, or diversify a bit. Grab a box of terradons, maybe a steg.
After that i'd do whatever.
i also despise the salamander kit. If it matters in the next few years all fine cast will be moved over to clamshell plastic. Thats what I am waiting for before i invest in sallies.
Either way I largely agree with the text I quoted. Some pretty solid advice on what order to get the models in.
Thanks for the rough guide of what to get. i will be getting a the battalion, saurus, skinks, and a skink priest atm. then will be working up with maybe tettoeko, some more temple guard, a stegadon, bastiladon. and kinda going for a little bit of a monster mash possibly for some fun lists. As most of the time it will be friendly competitive so nothing super crazy. but when it comes to competitive. Ive read up on Slann being a need pretty much to do well. any other things i should most definitly get here in the near future?
