8th Ed. The Becalming Cogiation

In my experiences of 8th edition many people seem to be going for "suicide bomber" "Wizards, who get Xerxeces, Pit of Shades, Dwellers Below or other big spells like that, then roll for the miscast to get the spell off and cause massive damage in return. I'd have thought that Becalming Cogitation, negating a wizard any 6s rolled within 24" to be a very effective way of paralysing the enemy magic bombers. Has anyone had success with using this discipline in 8th edition?

It works wonders! Best magic defence in the game according to me. The problem is that if your facing a smart opponent then they'll soon learn to stay outside of the 24" but within range of the unit they want to target, be it the TG or something else..

It's the first thing I put on any Slaan in an army list. It frustrates the hell out of opponents (even if they do manage to stay out of range).

In any game over 2k, it is a must. Against Skaven, it will prevent the dreaded 13th from going off easily.

Used it for the first time last night against HE. There was on phase i didnt even have to use my dispel dice. Becalming cog rocks.

it's only slight weakness is the range, though that should only matter for the first 1-2 turns tops.

regardless, a must buy in my book, as it's great vs. a caster casting lots of spells on 1-3 dice, as it massively increases the chances of broken concentration (i.e. a failed roll), and equally great against the 'suicide' mages, as it prevents almost everything from being IFd, or even cast in most cases.
