8th Ed. Terradon stomp question.

As the tittle states i have a question regarding the stomp attacks of Terradons.

In the BRB it stated that:
Terradon Riders are WC, and therefore has the Stomp rule.
Terradons are MB, and therefore has the Stomp rule.

I guess the most sane (And probably most fair) way to look at it is that the Terradons, when ridden by a Terradon Rider, solve their stomp attack at str 3. And when ridden by a character solve their stomp attack at str 4.

Though it seems kind of odd (Logically speaking) that the "Same" figure has a deffirence in the str of their stomp attacks, the above statement is how i asume "Rules as Intented" are to be read.

How are your thoughts/opinions on the subject? - Am i missing anything?

Monstrous Cavalry should stomp with the mounts strength, I guess RAW it's ambiguous but RAI it's very logical.

The lone Terradon listed as MB is just for the heroes(who when riding it become MC) the Terradon with - in the unit type column is the one ridden by Skink Rider and shares his status as MC.

I can't seem to find anywhere in the BRB if you use the rider's or mount's str when working out the stomp attack, and i guess it pretty much comes down to this.

Anyone with a reference to a page or who can explain how this is donw to me, please?

Ps, this "Problem" goes for Pegasus knights and bloodcrushers etc. aswell as Terradons.

It isn't specified so until it is FAQed we have to figure it out by ourselves.

But really we know the model makes a stomp attack and the model is composed of a rider and a mount. We know big things stomp. The mount is the big thing. Use the mounts strength to stomp.

It makes sense and isn't against the rules.

Yes, to me that would be what made sence indeed.

Though it IS actually against the rules to use the Terradon's str, when it comes to "Terradon Riders", to solve the stomp - Since it's the rider that has the MC rule, and therefore has the stomp rule, not the Terradon.

It's super lame, but as far as i figure: If you play by RaW Terradon riders has str 3 stomp, if you play by RaI they have str 4.

Which means, by RaW, that pegasus knights has a stomp of 3 aswell. Not 4.
And Bloodcrushers has a stomp at str 6! (As they are MC as by the latest DoC Erreta).

... Anyways, this is the way i read the rules.

Since it's the rider that has the MC rule, and therefore has the stomp rule, not the Terradon..

Together they make it Monstrous Cavarly.
The Skink rider makes it cavalry... and thus cavalry rules.
The Terradon monster makes it monstrous.... and thus monstrous rules such as Stomp.

Page 83 of the BRB describes monsterous cavalry as monsterous cousins to horses, and says nothing of the riders making them MC, it describes them as MC with or with out riders. They have the stomp special rule as described on pg 76 of the BRB, and make it at the models strength.

It seems to me that the wording makes the model MC, and it is so independent of being ridden, ergo the stomp is made at the strength of the mount, especially since that is what is actually making the stomp attack.

I would also say it follows very similarly the rules for a monsterous mount ridden by a character. It is the monster that makes the stop not the character. I mean I'm not having my ancient steg make S2 stomp attacks because there is a skink priest on top.

Page 83 actually states very clearly that no rule that the rider has is confered to the mount, and vica versa, except for Stupidity, fear, Terror, Imune to Phyc, Frenzy. - Given that the Terradon, when ridden by a Terradon Rider, doesn't have the stomp rule, but the Rider does, to me means you cannot use the mounts str. Surely this isn't how rules were intended to be read, but untill we might get a FaQ/Erreta, i think this is how most tournaments is going to be ruling it.

Stegs are a completely deffirent story though, since they aren't Monstrous Cavalry, but Monsters.

When it comes to monstrous mounts taken by a character, it's the mount which has stomp rule.

Don't get me wrong though, i'd like very much to use the terradosn str for the stomp, i'm just "Fishing" you guys for a valid (Ruled) reason to be able to do so ^.^

Just Called Games-Workshop Office in Denmark, they had 3 people running through the book while i was on hold, and concluded that this was indeed very poor explained in the book, and if playing by RaW you had to use the Terradon/Pegasus etc RIDERS Str when solving the stomp. But he also emphazised that it was their intention that you should use the mount's, and they'd see to that it got Erreta'ed as fast as possible.
