Ok so a quick question i am going to buy 2 kits of terradon riders next week.

I decided to get them to have something to summon with my engine of the gods since i dont like skinks and all my warriors are already in my list from the start

At first i was set on building 2 sets of rippers but then i saw one of the summoning threads that said rippers arent great to summon without a bloat toad on the field and that terradon riders might be better

So i am wondering what would be the best way to build my 2 kits if i am mainly going to use them for summoning

If they are only going to be summoned then Terradons will be more consistent.

How many EotGs do you run in your list? If you have good odds of rolling into a summon on turn one then Rippers can still be a great summoning choice. Building one of each kit in this case wouldn't be a bad idea.

At the moment i only have 1 engine so i think buildin 1 of each might be best

I guess i can take the opputunity to ask if its worth it try to fit rippers in a 2000 point fang of sotek list or if i am better of focusing on getting my 3 blocks of warriors to 40 units each

If you wanted to list Rippers into FoS then perhaps something like this:

Allegiance: Seraphon
- Mortal Realm: Ulgu

LEADERS:
Slann Starmaster
(260)
- General
- Command Trait : Great Rememberer
- Artefact : Miasmatic Blade

Saurus Sunblood (120)
Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (260)
- Artefact : Doppelganger Cloak
Skink Starseer (200)
Engine of the Gods (220)
- Artefact : Spellmirror

UNITS:
40 x Saurus Warriors (360)
- Spears
10 x Saurus Warriors (100)
- Clubs
10 x Saurus Warriors (100)
- Clubs
3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)

BATTALIONS:
Fangs of Sotek
(70)
Sunclaw Starhost (130)

ENDLESS SPELLS:
Balewind Vortex
(40)

TOTAL: 2000/2000
EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 2
WOUNDS: 110

Generally, I only take one block of 40x Saurus Warriors. I use the other two 10x unis to screen or hold objectives. If you drop the EotGs and Balewind Vortex you can bring a ScV on Carno. Its command ability is huge on block of 40x Saurus Warriors.

I think i will build 3 rippers and wait with building the other 3 until i have tried the list you sent

Thanks for the tips and the list:D

As long as there are no changes to the wording that I am unaware of I would do as follows (if you want rippers and toads)

Have 1-2 units of rippers in your army anyway (1-2 toads standard)

Use 1-2 (preferably 2) EOTG’s

As it reads in the rippers abilities “in your first hero phase place a toad for each unit of rippers”
(Not at the start of - just in it)

So...use the 1/2 EOTG’s ability (again in the hero phase - not start of but in this case do so at the start)

With a slaan near by that’s fair odds at getting yourself a free unit of two (some times none sometimes 2 - that’s odds for you)

Once you have summoned said new rippers to the table - then activate the blot toad ability to place them - logic then states that you can add your starting rippers+new ones blot toads to the table - thus a potential for 4 of the tasty bastards.

Which then means you can summon as many rippers as you like/are able to throughout the game and retain their powerful combat brutality (providing you don’t plop the toads out in the sticks)

Hope this helps :)

What is the role of this fellow. I can't seem to see his points being worth it compared to a starpriest, but would like a different opinion on that.

The list already starts with 3 command points, but if the old blood lives a bit and can get into combat next to the sunblood it could be quite fun throwing 5 command points at +10 attacks to the heroes, get the EotG into the thick of it too with 14 attacks :p

That was a misclick in the Warscroll builder. It was suppose to be a Skink Starpriest. The list felt light. Normally I have room for Razordons in every list. lol

Skink Starseers are good in Saurian bases list for this reason. Not sure it is worth 200 points unless you run 4 Carnos with the Aetherquarts Broach.

I have a question about the razordons.

I dont have rozordons yet (they are on the bucket list i just havent gotten there yet) but i have 3 other options at 160 points that i could take instead.
The ones i have available are a troglodon or an astrolith bearer wich would basiclly work as a replacement unit at the moment. But i was thinking that if i wanted to go a more summon heavy route i could ad some endless spells instead

So my other idea would be this

LEADERS:
Slann Starmaster
(260)
- General
- Command Trait : Great Rememberer
- Artefact : Miasmatic Blade

Saurus Sunblood (120)
Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (260)

Skink Starpriest (80)
Engine of the Gods (220)

10 x Saurus Warriors (100)
- Clubs
10 x Saurus Warriors (100)
- Clubs
3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)

BATTALIONS:
Fangs of Sotek
(70)
Sunclaw Starhost (130)

ENDLESS SPELLS:
Balewind Vortex
(40)
Chromatic cogs (60)
Aetherwind pebdulum (40)
Soulsnare Shackles (20)

Points 1960/2000

So the point with adding these endless spells is to make my slanns summoning better and to use my skink starpriest to summon either the pendulum or the shackles turn 2 depending on if i need defence or if i want to be anoying on one of the objektives
I have not tried this so i dont know if it works and i am missing 40 points so i dont know if it is worth it

So what do you guys think would it be worth it to try the endless spell or am i better of if i add my troglodon or astrolith bearer instead

Or are there maybe other options i am not seeing?

Edit* just after i posted this i realized that i could also put my other kit of rippers in there instead of my other sugestion

I feel that the toad placement is likely to change to “beginning” of the hero phase. There were similar shenanigans with Chameleon Skinks that was eventually removed, but maybe I’m just being pessimistic.

I wouldn't mind it being reworded to "When the unit of Ripperdactyls is placed on the battlefield for the first time, at the end of that phase, place the toads...[etc]"

Where’s your sense of fun and abuse of loopholes :D

Maybe drop the aetherwind and soulsnare and put in a scar vet on coldone and give him sword of judgment or crown of betrayal.
