8th Ed. tactics vs dwarfs

so my friend recently got me into playing warhammer and he always seems to win i'm wondering if you guys have any advice on how to take down a dwarf army he always brings in either 1 or 2 organ guns depending on how many points we're playing with. he also has me vastly outnumbered as all of his units are in horde formation.

any suggestions?

Salamanders eat hordes for lunch! They also eat skinks sometimes, but that's besides the point.

Depending on your army size, you can counter the organ guns with chameleon skinks pretty well. Take a 2 units of 5-6 per organ gun, that way he can't kill all the chameleons in one round. Terradons can get to them pretty fast as well. Just fly over the gun, drop rocks, and finish it off with some shooting from behind! Easier said than done, I know.

From my experience, a regular block of saurus will hold up to a dwarf horde. He should be afraid of going toe to toe with your core infantry.

I recently played an almost all shooting dwarf army (x2 organs, x2 grudge throwers and x4 cannons). What you have to be prepared for is casualties. At the beginning of the game he took out a ton of models but once I made it to close combat the scale quickly tipped in my favor. My sallies burninated his horde of hammerers and I chose to ignore his thunderers. The pleasant surprise though was my terradons. They tied up the Anvil of Doom for four turns out of six which pretty much made it very ineffective. My magic was completely useless so I wouldn't spend too many points there.
