AoS Tabling your Opponent

I 've only lost once against such player and my dices just loved rolling 1s. This is why it is great the way it is in my opinion. If you are a person that does not want to think, you are going down :p
Could be it's not as prevelant in wargames (or specificly in AoS), I'm just very used to seeing those 1-trick ponies that rely on abusing 1 particular advantage or flaw in the rules like excessivly rewarding suicidal/idiotic plays. And it just tends to ruin games, which is just a shame. Especially as it's often deemed "interesting" gameplay as it does tend to be satisfying to pull off, they just tend to ignore that it's horrific to be on the recieving end 9 out of 10 times... Also, it tends to push games in a certain direction as it creates an arms race for who can abuse the rule best, which isn't enjoyable either..

Scenario almost always win (usually with a wipe out you win because there's no opposition on objectives)
BUT if you see that you are falling behind with points and you cannot recover from it (possible, with scenarios as "three places of power"), at least you should have the possibility to win by wiping out the opponent.
I'd like it to at least be more difficult to fall behind. With only a maximum of 5 turns a match can be decided in 2 or 3.Which is just too quick. Be it by allowing you to steal points, wipe out the enemy or just making a match last longer it needs something.

That's what I like about the idea of twists they introduced in the Open Play cards.
Unfortunately they don't work all that well but I like the idea of buffing the player with less points halfway through the game to give him a chance to turn it around.

The ruling that my store uses for pitched battles out of GH17 is you would play out what ever rounds is left and to see how many points you could accumulate by round 5. They ruled it that way after we had discussed it saying that you would win if you were ahead in points. For example, I was running a shadowstrike list against Skryre skaven list. Of course he dumped mortals on top of me and boarded me round 3 but I was ahead in points. With the ruling from before I said that I still won. My opponent argued the point and we had a meeting of the minds about it and changed it to you would play out the remaining rounds and that he won.

Do you regularly run into situations where even a wipe-out won't allow that person to catch up again? I'm especially curious if and how early it happens. Given that with only 5 turns it should be plausibly possible to do it in 2 turns with the right setups.

It was the first time we had that situation, with L.o.S.T the ability to get anywhere around the map to capture objectives. I underestimated Clan Skryre skaven. That's what happened
