8th Ed. Super stegadons?

I had an idea, it already fell through, but half of it may still work. The idea was to put a skink chief on an ancient and give him the war spear and the poison of the firefly frog, or whatever it was called. This would give him 2d6 impact hits, and re-roll to hit with 2d6 darts.

Now for the reality of it, thats ten points too many, so there goes the war spear.

Is it possible to have the chief operate the giant blow gun? Would he give all 4d6 shots a re-roll? Or just the one he uses, for 2d6.

I think if this is at all possible then it's a killer. Re-rolling that many poison darts for only 65 points sounds worth it to me.

That's a pretty nasty idea; I like it. Unfortunately, it says in the faq that you can't use the chief's BS for shooting the stegadon. Take from that what you will.

But wow, I never actually read the part that says you can re-roll. That's brilliant; definitely worth re-thinking it's value.

Might work better with a terradon chief, blowpipe or javelin, VotFF and some other gear.
and put him in a small unit of terradons.

It seems a waste of points to get to re-roll 2 shots though. Honestly the only way that I can find this item useful is on the stegadon, but since it probably doesn't effect the unit its meh. Maybe it Oxyotl could use it, but he can't.

silly question here... why would you get to reroll... anything? dont have the book here, but i cant think of why

Venom of the firefly frog makes all weapons on that model magical and poison. It also lets any weapon that is already poison reroll misses. So a skink chief with a basic ranged weapons get to re-roll misses for shooting..

i am however 100% sure that he can not use the giant blowpipe, and it wouldnt grant poison to the impact hits either, since it is not the skink chiefs mundane weapon that does the hit, it is the stegadon.

Venom of the Firefly Frog can only be used on mondane weapons, so can not use on War Spear or any magic items anyway.
