AoS Starhost still having benefits?

Hi guys,
I am new to this forum and also a starting aos player. I have a question regarding starhosts. If 1 unit dies you need for a starhost, does it lose its benefits. And if you have extra units that are not included in the starhost, do they also benefit from the special abilities?

There is no "best Starhost" because they are dependent on what you want to do, but that being said, there are some that are pretty awesome. Examples:
- Eternal Starhost is a defense bulwark (as long as your opponent doesn't create mortal wounds)
- Shadowstrike Starhost is very good deep strike option allowing you to snipe heroes behind enemy lines for example.

As for your questions: It depends on the Starhost. Some of them (actually most) mention one of the units in the text. For example a Shadowstrike Starhost doesn't work when its Starpriest (or Priest) is dead, and an Eternal Starhost loses one of its abilities if the Eternity Warden is dead.

A Starhost's abilites only affect units that are part of the Starhost, and units can only belong to one Starhost.
