7th Ed. Slann vs Oldblood

Beyond the poll, just wanted to start a thread asking what the majority will take in a 2250 battle. I run an old blood with BoR on Carnosaur. The way I see it, a skink priest on the engine with the diadem should give enough magical protection (especially if a scar vet has the mirror shield).

I take my trusty Oldblood on Carnosaur with BoR, mostly because I don't have a Slann model. I'll definitely try it out once I get it though.

I take the Slann. The Slann and Carnosaur lord both clock in at around the same points value, I just find the Slann easier to protect, and he fulfills multiple roles - keeping the center of my line from breaking, offensive and defensive magic. That's a lot of utility.

But then again, I'm not in a demon-heavy environment where bloodthirsters are running around willy-nilly (which the BoR would eat alive), so YMMV.

Im backing the Slann here, mainly because he's so multi purpose, he's my sole magic user and I need someone with some punch, he covers my anti-magic needs, provides a solid, near unbreakable block (with Temple Guard) in the center of my line and also plays BSB from the security of the back ranks...

whats that looming above the Temple guard? Is it a cloud? Is it a really overweight Terradon? no its.... NUKATOAD!!!!!

I play a very static, Saurus battleline, so I like my Slann in order to make a rock-solid core of Temple Guard. Besides that, putting a few points into him also makes him the BSB for more Static CR and the best caster in the game. I always always run a Slann.

Slann all the way! I started out wanting to go a different way and taking an Oldblood, but after really studying through the lores of magic and seeing all they had to offer, the Slann became too good a choice to pass up. Being able to take all 6 spells from any lore gives him a huge degree of flexibility, and he comes with his own unit of near-unbreakable Temple Guard.

The fact that he can draw line of sight over enemy troops without being a large target himself is a HUGE advantage, especially coupled with Cupped Hands of the Old Ones. Just pray for a nasty miscast, pass it on to a Vampire Lord, and watch the fireworks begin.
