8th Ed. Slann Help for Monster Mash

I wanted to run something different from my usual bunker. Any thoughts on this Slann build?
High State of Consciousness, Reservoir of Eldritch, Focus of Mystery
Magic Resistance +1
BSB with the +1 CR banner

I was thinking I could charge him into units that did not have magic items if needed to allow flanks for my big monsters. With +2 CR from banner and +1 from charge he would probably win or at least draw for 1 round, allowing my big guy to get in position.

My list is:
30 Saurus
10 jav skink
10 jav skink

Scarnosaur with stegadon helm, Ironcurse, GW and light armor
Skink Priest lvl 2 with heavens and dispel scroll

3 Terradons (I figure I would keep these near my slann to provide rear support against the enemy)
2x 5 chamo skinks (warmachine hunters)
EotG Stegadon

I was not sure whether to post this in army list or tactics since it is the slann I am looking for advice on.
 
I've run a similar Slann, except I gave him Becalming instead of Eldritch and the Fencer's Blades (and the MR(2) item)

He does pretty well against smaller units. I wouldn't run him into anything with full ranks. I also took full advantage of Walk Between Worlds to keep him out of danger of being charged by anything with magical weapons.
 
I would say that it depends on your meta. I am currently seeing a lot of fast moving characters that would eat a slann in around or two. You would really have to work hard to protect him.

The slann could stop what normally happens to a scarnosaur which is getting challenged out of the fight.
