Im bringing a list on sunday to try out the new rules and was wondering about how these rules work.

When allocating wounds to the slann, can i try to ignore the wounds using the Astrolith bearer 6+++ then if it fails pass it off to the saurus guard and do another 6+++?

Thanks!

I'm afraid not. The 6+ from the astrolith bearer triggers when you allocate a wound to a unit; the Selfless Protectors rule triggers before, allowing you to move the allocation from your Slann to the Guard.

Similarly, for Kroak it would go 2+ pass-off, allocate, 4+ negate, 6+ negate.

Ah see the way i understood it was that the model has to save with armour then any ignore wounds go off THEN you allocate the wounds.

so it'd go Slann - Armour Save > Ignore Wounds > Allocate Wounds to model

So Saurus Guard can intervene between ignore wounds and allocate wounds

Slann - Armour Save > Ignore Wounds > Intervene

Saurus Guard - Ignore Wounds > Allocate Wounds

but you're saying that the correct order is

Armour > Allocate Wounds > Ignore Wounds

Which makes what i was thinking impossible

One way to help with it is to refer to After Saves as Ignoring Damage, not wounds. Each wound does a set amount of damage. That damage triggers the effect of the ignore damage rule.

To Hit roll ->
Apply Hit Modifiers ->
To Wound roll ->
Apply Wound Modifiers ->
Armor Save Roll ->
Apply Rend and Other Modifiers ->
Allocate Wounds (This would be where you make the Protectors Roll) ->
Damage Roll if Applicable ->
Damage Resistance/Feel No Pain/Shrug for each point of damage (however many times you have abilities that grant such a roll) ->
Apply Damage ->
Check Damage Triggers (MWs on failed saves of damage, attacking if a model dies, etc).

And remember, all attacks from a unit occur at once. Do not bracket or reduce stats between different attacks on a unit. This is huge for our Bastilidon.

Ah ok thanks lot! appreciate the breakdown!

no matter which way the 1+ save is meant to be, the degradation not happening between attacks is soooo super key its not even funny.
