AoS Skink priest on ancient stegadon...

Hey im new to warhammer, and i have a question about what happens to the skink priest when (if) the stegadon dies.....
Does the priest loses his 2 wounds and dies with the stegadon, or does he keep on fighting on foot?

Dang it..... would have been nice if he backfliped off the stegadon whilest going down, and continue kicking ass.....
