That's a bit of work, but it sounds like a sound strategy in a pinch.

I have the same issue, i just kind of shove them together as best I can. It doesnt look pretty but it works.

I do this as well. Sometimes it looks really good and other times they barely stay on the movement tray. One little wrong touch or move and it's like falling dominoes. My gaming group always has funny comments when i bring them and start setting up. They know how difficult they can be sometimes. It's kind of sad how our skinks have this issue, but they look way better than the older model's pose! Could've made their tails more model friendly. l didn't realize they would be that bad ranking-up, until i had already glue them to their bases and was halfway into painting them many years ago...
