8th Ed. Skink Chief w/ spear, bad idea?

Ive converted a skink skirmisher to hold a spear and shield...and it looks really cool IMO, but I got to thinking, giving a skink chief a spear doesnt help much does it?

Fielded alone: I dont see any bonus for the minor point cost
Fielded with Skinks in blocks: The spear would only help if he refused a challenge, and atacked from a back rank?

...i mean its just a few points, but I could prolly use them for something else.

If you can find me a good use for the spear, Id be much appreciative. ^_^

put him on a stegadon and he gets the +1 strength on a charge. other than that there isn't a use for him having a spear :/

Creative, but no benefit for it lol. I would say For a magic weapon, it would definatly be the Stegadon warspear, but thats a different model and the parts already come with the stegadon set to make i tlook like he's carrying a bad ash magic spear. Post a picture show us

If he refuses a challenge, he cannot fight at all.

Wait, if he refuses the challenge he cant fight? I thought he could fight he just moved to the back rank for the close-combat phase. :/ oh darn...

As for the pic, gotta give me a lil time and finish painting him, I started and havent had time yet to finish.
BTW my noob skills with the brush, will be mainly for not wanting my guys looking plain in battle, that'd be about it! lol.

If I ever run a Chief on a Teradon I usually give him the magic shooting staff and a spear because he can use that to give him +1 on the charge if he takes on war machines. If you give him the great horned one (magic item) you can give him the spear for +1 on the charge as well.
