Is a skink chief bsb a viable idea? To me they seem very squishy but i mean with him i can give him magic armor and put him in my center saurus block get the reroll and not have to overrun wich would save me with armies bigger then me like skaven or orcs and gobbos. What are your guys opinion/experiences

If for some reason I don't want my slaan to be the BSB, a skink chief, jogging up from behind with a small cohort body guard, and staying out of combat, works.
After all, it's only 65 points.

That sounds pretty cool actually. And for me its sometimes i wanna get my temple guard into combat to help out an existing combat or to just be a sledgehammer when i need em and it makes me nervous that just some bad rolling for a couple leadership tests and my epic mag/general/bsb just instantly dies and can a skink chief still be a bsb if he takes a moumt? Like if he took a rippeerdactyl or terradon?
 
I like the Idea.

I feel inspired to do an all skink list.

Something along the lines of:

Lord

Saurus Oldblood w/ Dawnstone, -1 to hit LA. GW, talisman of preservation on CoC.

Hero

Skink priest lvl 2 + dispel scroll.

Skink priest lvl 1 + cube.

Skink Chief w/ ripper, LA shield, Spear.

Skink Chief w/ La, Shield, Egg

Skink Chief BSB w/ la, shield.

Skink Chief w/ la, Shield.

Scar vet on Cold one w/ Armor of destiny w/ GW

(haven't done the math, think it fits?)

Core

2 x 40 Skink cohorts w/ poison and FC.

3 x 10 Skink Skirmishers jav and shields.

Special:

2 x 3 Rippers.

1 x 3 Terra.

2x 6 Chamo's

Rare:

Ancient steggie.


This is rough math from what i remember (no book near), but i think it's 2500 ish points - mebbeh the BSB should go with the mountd CoC though.

Anyways, i'd love to try this :P
 
I'd go Stegadon riding BSB for the extra range with a Skink Chief BSB.
 
Hmm what about the fencers blades on him as well? Weapon skill 10 sounds like a pretty good defense
 
Why not go totally overboard and play with something like a Skinkcohort horde, 9-10 skinkchiefs, Tehenahuin and 6dice Savage beast of horrors :jawdrop:

I am trying to put up something very similar in the army list forums, and i totally feel like building it and testing it too!.

however i settled for 6 chiefs, and Priests for magic with oldbloods to actually add some punch.
