AoS Second best skink loadout?

Hi! I'm a guy with a small Warcry band and a box of skinks to build. I think of building a 1000-2000 pts army in the future, heavy on skinks.

Now, I know that pipe + shlied is the best loadout, but I kinda dislike how it looks.

Is there a close second most competitive choice out there? Or would I be better off switching to Saurus?
