8th Ed. Saurus Warriors Unit Size

Hey All,

I'm really sorry if this topic has been covered before. When I tried to search it kept saying, "The terms are too generic" or something of the sort, and even after browsing a few pages I wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

On to my question.

I just got my Saurus Warriors put together and they currently rank up at 5x3. I was just about to cut out the movement tray, but hesitated wondering if that was the best unit size to have.

Could you guys provide some advice on what would be the best unit size for my Saurus Warriors (All Spears, Bearer, Champion, Musician). I also have another box of them that I have yet to build if that helps.

try this thread for some info.

I run one unit 6 x 4 (Spears) and two units 6 x 3 (hw/s) my TG I run 6 x 4 as well.

It depends on the size of game you are playing. However, I'd go with units of 20 in 5 by 4, or units of 24 in 6 by 4. Perhaps give the units of 24 spears as unless more than 6 die, you get 31 attacks back against enemy units that are 5-wide or more.

Personally I go 20-25 in a 5x4/4x5 formation. The largest I run is high 38s (I did once try a horde though, that was fun!)

Much larger and you're at risk from warmachines/magic, smaller and you're losing out on rank bonuses.

you mean he gets 24 attacks back? 25 with champ

I msut be in a strange meta game then.... we play 3k points and any time I field anything under 30 it gets destroyed with ease. I have started running my 7x5 with an old blood in there with crown.

they are apoint sink but they will tarpit all games for you and saurus can grind over several turns really well.
