What is the most appropriate unit size and formation for these bad boys?

I usually put them 6 wide but is 24 really enough or should we have a minimum of 30 for that extra rank?

it hard to answer to lack information
since i don't role army type or what your rolling with role of your saurus
alot of people consider 24 saurus with HW/S the magic number but it really up to u more ranks will give the unit more grinding power

here some linkz that i find useful hopefully they will help you

I always make sure I have an entire 4th rank so that I can take a few casualties before loosing a rank bonus.

I personally go with 25 Saurus (only 5 wide).

If you must go 6 wide, 28-30 would be best. I say 28 as that means you can still loose 5 models before loosing a rank bonus.

Ive always ran 2 units of 15 and 1 unit of 30. People are scared of the 30 and 20 temple guard in the middle they commit so much to them only to get flanked by the 15s. Or I run the 15s at an enemy monster in the hopes to hold it up or redirect it. Seems to work as ive not lost a game in 2.5 years until the new edition army book where ive lost one against magic heavy ogres. Also these units with command are exactly 750 so makes for my min in 3k games.
