8th Ed. Putting together a reasonable Lizardman list against IoB.

What would be a good list for playing against one of the Island of Blood armies. Assume it could be either one and that having fun is the order of the day.

This will be the first game in this edition for both players.

I think island of blood is a bit unfair for the skaven. And I am pretty sure the griffon would not be allowed at that level of play since it takes up almost half the army points.

But I digress. One lonely salamander can take on both those armies (at legal points levels). And if you have two it just becomes unfair. So take a Sally, a block of saurus, and a handful of skinks. Either a priest or a scar vet for your general and you'll be in business.

Thanks. My plan is to prepare all three armies, since I bought IoB (it looked quite nice) and am collecting Lizardmen, and alow my opponent to pick which force they want so it will be in my interests for things to be more or less balanced

Skinks as skirmishers or as shield and weapon troops?

I would go with skirmishers. That way you and your friends will be able to experience a larger portion of the rules and experience different types of troops. If you build them with Jav/shield you can field them as either one. Or you can give them blowpipes and pretend they are chameleons.

For the sake of balance, you should probably field the HE Noble as a champion in one of the supplied units. The Griffon is just too much, IMO. I think you can get close to 600 points with the Skaven, so shoot for something in that area or lower.
