8th Ed. Proxy question

Hey guys, how big of a problem is it to proxy? When I put together my battalion I did 1/2 hw & 1/2 spear (no idea what i was doing). Now I'm putting together another saurus box & I think I want to do all spear (havent played any 8E games yet). Does anyone have some hw's hiding in their spear groups?

At the end of the day I guess I could just deal with making a group of 18 hw & then rest spear worse comes to worse.

I'm spending more time thinking about this since I'm not out of school & my group of friends I exclusively played with is now gone. I will now have to play with scary strangers, so the weapons may matter more.

It mostly depends on who you're playing against. Most people won't care a whole lot if your weapons are a little different.

personally for myself it doesn't mean much. but just let me know ahead of time what they are when were putting units on the table. my circle of players all started at the same time and did the same thing. so were knowledgeable about that whole predicament.

I really wouldnt want to play against someone who it mattered to after all its only a game as long as you let the opponent know. These figures after all are expensive.

I throw the new models with spears into a unit with the old models with handweapons and no one has complained or said anything about it in all the games I've played.

same here. i got about 17 saurus in a very nice trade where allmost all of them are with HWs. those that were missing an arm i glued spears on to them but otherwise.... the unit looks more dynamic really.

So long as at least 50%+1 of the unit is armed with what they claim to be armed with on the roster, there's no problems.

thanks guys for the responses. is everyone happy with their spears in 8th? It seems a lot of army lists now use HW's.

My spears are working just fine for me. I run them 4x10 horde style (full command) with a scarvet sporting the crown of command to make them stubborn. He's also got light armor, the dragonbane helm and a greatweapon if anyone is interested in trying out that particular unit.
