8th Ed. Plague monks with the plague banner and doom rocket

hi all, was after some guidance on the best way to kill a large unit of plague monks with a plague banner (re-roll all to hits and to wounds in combat). I know the best way to deal with these dirty rats is to call out 'flame on' and burn them with salamanders but in the event that i do have to fight them in combat what is the best way to beat them. Oh and if you have any effective ways of dealing with a scarily accurate doom rocket that would be great. Thanks heaps

Not much you can do about a Doomrocket, other than perhaps hang back enough that he has to roll a lot of dice and hope it misfires. But it's unlikely to do so using less than 5 dice and hanging back may not be a great use of Lizardmen.

For Plague Monks, use their frenzy against them. Sacrifice a unit of skinks to draw them out of position and hit them in the flank, disrupting them. Remember also, once they lose combat they lose frenzy and are no longer immune to Psych. If you have them disrupted so that they no longer benefit from Str in Numbers, they will panic pretty easily. If they are lead by a Plague Priest, you can challenge him and kill him fairly easily with a tooled up Scar Vet.

But really, if you draw it off using it's frenzy against it, just keep it going in the wrong direction, and kill his easier units with your elites.

The doom rocket you can really only deal with by hoping he rolls triple 1's and blows himself up or something. It usually goes off and does some damage.


The plague monks arent bad to handle. Just shoot the ever living god out of them. I have a friend that plays skaven and I like to put 2 units of 7 chamo skinks and 2 salamanders in front of the monks and just shoot. Two big flaming templates and then 28 poison shots take their toll. Just flee with whatever they charge at. I find the plague monks are only a pain if they have the furnace in with them. That thing is pretty dang hard to take down and they are unbreakable with it in the unit. My method for dealing with it is still the same. Shoot shoot and then shoot some more.
