Greetings fellow coldblooded Lizardfolk,

I will participate in a non competative Path to Glory campaign hosted by my local Warhammer store soon and I thought asking you for a few tips and hints on how to approach such a thing.

We dont have to roll for our Followers though, we can chose what we want to play with because, we should play with the force we want to play with, as the campaign master has told me.

Initially I thought that a Slann as a champion would be neat, though he only gains two followers, but he can summon the rest as I need it. With that I could take the Slann, a few Saurus Warriors / Knights and sacrifice two spells a turn to gather enough points to summon Skinks when they are needed.

BUT, yes a big one, everything we play with has to be painted, granted only to a battle ready standard but still, summoning would add a considerable workload on the painting side of things.

So what are your thoughts? Is a Slann a good option, or should I go with an Old Blood on a Carnosaur? Or a totally different route with a Scarvet on Cold One with more followers and a Knight force, so many options, so much work.

Maybe I should add what is already in my collection:

1x Slann

1x Oldblood on Carno

1x Oldblood/Scarvet/Sunblood on Foot

3x Skink Priests

1x Astrolith Bearer

40x Saurus Warriors

10x Knights

20x Skinks

9x Handlers

6x Chameleon Skinks

3x Kroxigor

3x Salamanders

3x Terradon

1x Bastilladon

in a low points game always go slann summoning makes us incredible in small point games

Yeah I thought as much,

I've been thinking that I will paint up some Warriors / Knights for the initial force and paint up the Skinks to summon and teleport them around on the Objectives. Since they only cost 6 points I could do this every turn, if needed, and still be able to drop some meteors on some unlucky chaps.

You should probably get some more knights to use as battleline, as they can do some damage and hold the line for some time

With that you mean more then the 10 I have in my collection or in the Army?
I plan on using all of them in the campaign.
The Saurus Warriors are in the initial Warband because they are almost finished and from a narrative point of view. I Know that they kinda suck.
But I will get a box of Skinks 20 are not nearly enough.

Warriors can work, but you need a lot put in to them, and they hold the line very poorly. They have a very good initial first round of combat, each warrior making up to 4 attacks (which is awesome!) but they take damage very poorly, after the first ten kills you go down to 3 attacks and after 20 kills you lose the bonus to hit.

with knights you get a consistent 4 attacks per model, and they don’t lose the horde bonus of the warriors. All in all they are much more useful.

Yeah I kinda thought as much,
The thing is, everything has to be painted and switching now would throw me off track completly.
With summoning as my crutch I will have to paint one additional unit to each unit I add through glory points.
With the Warriors done at least one third is finished. Leaving the Slann / Knights and the 20 to 40 Skinks.
I'm not only thinking effectiveness here but painting time and thats what im lacking the most. Hence I thought Oldblood on Carno with two units of Knights would be a neat Path to Glory force aswell.

Edit:

And believe you me I would gladly do this and just add more Knights, even with low points games this will be an uphill battle. Ive seen some of the wip warbands and I will be facing many of the bigger monsters the other factions have to offer.
I even thought about bringing just 5 knights and an additional Starpriest just to dropp Meteors and Stellar Tempest them to pieces.
