7th Ed. OZ tourney goers...

Hey all,

Ive mentioned this somewhere before, but I've been out of the gaming scene for a while and am hoping to get back into some tourney playing. Needa show all these evil races that are cropping up so much who the real masters of the old ones domain are!

This being said the tourney scene here in Australia (well, Brisbane, must say I haven't competed interstate) has in the past been quite harsh on comp scores. Was wondering if anyone can give me any profound guidance as to what is frowned upon these days. Primarily in regards to Lizzie army comp.

I've heard all sorts of things, from generic guidelines (no special characters, only 1 Terror causer, max 10 casting dice) to some pretty army-specific limitations (maximum no. of raises for VC's, limited rare/ special choices for Daemon armies led by a Greater Daemon) but nothing really definate or solid.

I realise the restrictions probably vary from tourney to tourney, depending on organisers and what not, but Im just sort of after some guidance so I don't loose another tourney because "oooh, you beat my max cannon gunline, Im going to give you a 1 for comp!"

About all I could really say specifically about Lizards is watch your number of stegadons, probably 2 would be ablout max if you wanted to keep a reasonable comp score. Most of the LM book is pretty well balanced.

Here are some guidelines I follow for the lizards and judging by the reactions of the majority of people I have played and talked to they are good guidlines to follow.

1: No more then 2 units of x3 Terradons
2: No more then 2 Stegadons
3: Slaan + EOTG = Comp slap
4: Kroxigor = Good Comp
5: More then 10 Power Dice will cause you alot of trouble.

And generally stay away from one trick ponies, if you put up an army consisting of 100 skirmish skinks, you will get slapped.

Just take what you like to play with, but don't go overboard.

Ummmm no he wouldnt as 100 skink skirmishers is a silly list and would be judged so by the Panel (Pretty much all comp is judged by a anonymous panel these days)

1 trick ponies doesnt always mean bad comp as there are plenty of one trick poney armies out there that dont suffer bad comp.

Just try t design an army that competes in all phases of the game but doesnt go overboard in any of them. Do that and your comp will be good.
