So we had another freind join us in warhammer. When he went looking for his old O&G army he also found an old Empire army he dident even remberd he had. I have always been somewhat intrested in the Empire mechanics but all modells exept the old 6'th starter set set have looked really bad in my eyes.
Now theese are old empire metel minis, some probably from 4'th and rest from 5'th.
And he Gave em to me, so After my LM project (more like at the same time) I will work on thesse guys.
He has lots of Metel spearmen, that looks way better then the curent empire models, A bit static but nice. I belive thesse are on a smaller scale then the rest.
And loads of old 5'th plastic halberdiers (ugly as hell).
Also some metal halberds also In a smaller scale, even smaller then the spearmen. Looks really old in the design (slopy work, little detail)
Some Crossbows, Imba cool models.
10 knights panther, and 5 knights with cavalry hammer.
12 Hafling archers. Also the old hot pott launcher.
9 flagelants
10 Knights on foot with various weapons. Old reiksgaurd modells I guess.
5 Monted heros, 2 mounted wizards
4 wizards on foot. Also 2 Griffons but only one Karl Franz.
The war alter.
Now the idea on how to make an army outa them. I Have drawn up a basic quick list that will utilize the models I like the look of. Since new empire models will mix badly I will only buy some artillary and a box of knights for this project. Unleass you give me a good idea or a word of warning.
All thesse figs (200+) have like 5 sheilds to share, so I will have to make some myself from scratch. I have no comand models at all, and the spearmen looks hard to convert. So I have some big chalanges ahead of me
I like the idea of using halberds as a detetchment unit, so I will convert some spearmen in to halberds.
So the list I have been thinking of using.
General of the Empire, With spearunit one. (will convert one of the knights on foot models for him)
Captain, bsb, with spearunit two. (will convert him, same as general)
2x lv2 wizards. Prolly one best and the other heavens/light
2x 24 spearmen, LA, Sheild, FC
2x 6 archers, detatchment to spaers. will look funny with small haflings ^^
2x 9 Halberds, detachment to spears. Prolly in a 3x3 formation.
3x 6 Knights, musican
2x 10 Crossbows
2x Cannons
1x hellblaster
Thats the basic idea on it, Will prolly look better then it plays. I have moddels enough for some changes. Like another spearunit, more crossbows. Should I consider a mortar also maybe? Any coments are welcome.
I can then use the other hero Choises availible to me to make some small changes to the list, run with a griffon or war alter. or even a lv4 caster. But the main concern is, is that a viable backbone list? With this list I will spend like 50 euros for a 2000+ point list.
Have any ideas on the modeling side I would be glad to hear em to
Edit: Looked a bit more in the book. And it would seem 1arch lector, 2 preists and a lv2 mage would do better then my original lineup. Damn there are many choises in the empire book ^^
