8th Ed. Old Blood on Carnosaur Viability?

So my previous mathes (they are few, new to gaming, if not painting/collecting) have all been played with a Slaan as my general, acting out into a heavy magic phase. However, now that i'v compleated my converted old blood on carnosaur, I was wondering how viable this lad really is when compared to the froggy. Taking into mind i'll be playing alot of Skaven and Vampire armies. Although these armies are heavily based on swarm troops that favors the mass destruction of a slaan, my mate who playes them almost allways fields a HPA and large units of rat ogres.

Was thinking of equipping him as such:

Oldblood - 145 pts
+ Carnosaur - 210 pts
+ Light armor - 10 pts
+ Shield - 6 pts
+ Blade of realities - 75 pts
+ Carnosaur pendant - 20 pts (The fat Yoshi is frenzied, why not make the rider the same I figured.)

All for a grand total of 466 pts.

Considering all my matches are friendly ones, should I try this guy out in 2000pts+ games, or just bring the froggy and leavy the Carno at home to sprinkle himself with dust?

If its a friendly match go for it, try it out. I've played a no wizard match before and used one. It was a lot of fun.

However tactically the big thing you have to worry about are warmachines. As he is a nice target without a ward save. I know Skavens have the warp lightening cannon but I don't think VC's have anything like that but I could be wrong. You will also be hard pressed to counter any magic as at best you can have a skink priest level two with EOftG. You'll have use him with other units as he won't be able to break a unit on his own even though he'll do a lot of damage. You could almost use him to go character hunting at least against the VC as the no ward or regen save will be nice against the vamps. I also find the scimitar that gives you two extra attacks and the shield that gives one(maiming shield) to be cool(if it stacks). Thats a lot of attacks especially against hordes which will be nice.

Ultimately it will depend on what the rest of your army looks like. I have found that Slanns are generally the best choice but this could be a fun match or two. In the end maybe some readjustments but if its for fun try it out and see. If you let me know more of what the rest of your army looks like I can give more tactical advice as far as movement and what not.

The key when running a carnosaur is to get it into combat as quickly as possible. Run it straight up the middle and start the killing!

In this case I guess my best bet would be to support him with a unit of Cold ones and head for the enemy lines as soon as the whistle goes. Anything else wont be able to keep up with him, or alternativly will slow him down. Good tip on the extra attack items, and should def take a look at them, unless im using him to take out a HPA or in the case of VC, his general. Then the chance for a one wound kill and half a crumbled army is a bit to tantalising to give up on.
