8th Ed. Old blood help request

For an 800 point league i intend to field an oldblood as general, the plan being that i mount him on a cold one with a halberd for a bit of mounted pawnage

hoevere i noticed its only +5 for a horned one. most people dislike horrned ones but no stupidity might have uses, then i realised that venom of the firefly frog is a enchanted item too which one do i go for?

I believe both options are unattractive at 800pts. At that point level you will be wounding ANYTHING on 2's. They cant even fit T5 in a list except other Lizzies, magic, or a Warshrine (T6) maybe so Venom of the Firefly Frog can be useless. Coldblooded mostly nullifies stupidity so I wouldn't even waste my time. Your also initiative 4 so you would be better off with a Great Weapon. A 200pt or less oldblood can look like:

Oldblood- Glittering Scales, Great Weapon, Carnosaur Pendant-

3+ Save, Str 7, -1 to be hit, and Frenzy after you wound something.

If he's with a Saurus block they have to decide to attack this guy or be smashed in the face. Saving your Saurus models which is invaluable at a small points level.

Check out the 8th ed LM FAQ. GW changed the horned one so it is no longer a magic item, now it is just a mount. Not only can you take an enchanted item now with it, the beast doesn't take any of your magic item allowance. Still not sure if it is worth it for the points though..
