8th Ed. new to lizards - 1k list

Hi all,

Thinking about a return to lizards, big break from Warhammer, now have 2.5k empire and fancy something new. I like relatively unusual lists (my empire is knights + greatswords, played very aggressively!)

Longer term I might avoid slann, we shall see. Love the carnosaur just know how vulner able he will be to cannons! Hoping he'll be able to enact revenge on daemons princes!

What do you think of this for a 1st 1000 points

Old Blood, with Burning Blade, Cold-One, Charmed Shield - 200
Lvl 2 Skink Priest with Dispel Scroll - 125

22 Saurus with Full Command - 272
10 Skink Skirmishers - 70
10 Skink Skirmishers - 70

6 Cold One Cavalry with Full Command - 260

Old blood will join the Saurus, giving me a really nasty combat unit. He's tough enough to charge out if needed. Skinks pick of combat blocks / screen / redirect. CoC can run down a flank/warmachine hunt/clear chaff etc.

I'm happy to stick with lvl2's especially considering access to cube of darkness + cupped hands but it's a shame they only get heavens (not a lore I'm familiar with)

i'd trade the CoC for some salamanders and beef up the saurus unit. maybe even put the old blood on foot and grab a unit of camo skinks. that's just me though

Just as newscales said, squeezing in one or two salamanders would do well I think. They really shine with their ability to soften up infantry blocks for your saurus, and they're not too shabby in cc either. I would also consider un-mounting the old-blood and stick him in the saurus unit, in low point games I reckon he'll most likely be able to slice up most opponents, after being weakened by the salamanders. But I have a feeling you like the idea of launching him out of the unit, mounted on a cold-one, and fielding cold one cavalry. Too bad that's probably the best place to draw some points in to give place for other stuff.

its good list but trade in the saurus cav for something else maybe slamanders or terradons

Thank I was expecting your reply, get the feeling Cold Ones are a bit overpriced and read how good Sallies are.

Anyway I've order battalion box set, so that will get me most of this list already (lizardmen are cheap to buy for the points).

Might leave it at that for now and see what the new army book brings

or you could try a stegadon swap for the COC? in my 100pts battles my steg hammer wins games on my very similar saurus anvil
