I'm fairly new to the game and have been playing skaven for the last few months, but have wanted to start a "good" army as well. Lizardmen make sense, I just don't really love any of the man-races.

Basically, this is the offer someone's making me. I've never played against lizardmen and I really prefer to purchase models that will actually be useful to me (I already have too much painting to do).

1 stegadon
1 slann mage-priest
2 skink priests
2 skink chiefs
1 kroxigor
1 saurus lord or chief
some ancients (if that's what they're called)
8 saurus cavalry
40 saurus warriors
37 skinks
and the codex

for 100 dollars.

As a side question, what kind of army are lizardmen in terms of common unit sizes? I've seen lists that have tons of units, and I've seen other smaller lists but I don't know the quality of the players for each/if either way is "right". Not saying there's a perfect way to play at all, but for instance, the skaven rely on a large number of troops regardless of your favored tactics/units.

I already have a horde army, and I tend to play somewhat competitively (I don't enter tournaments yet if I ever will, but I enjoy building quality forces).

Thanks for any help and I apologize if there are obvious answers to any of my questions.

Using the prices for modern models, I make that at least £235 in the UK. If its US dollars you're referring to, that would probably (my knowledge of exchange rates isn't great) be just shy of $300.

As far as I can see, the answer is yes. This is a very good deal.

thats a great deal!!!! as far as unit sizes 25-30 is a common size for saurus warriors as well as skink blocks with kroxigor in them. we have more medium sized unit sizes.

Yea, it's a good deal. Do you by chance live in the Washington DC area? I have seen a local sale that used the term ancients (if that's what they are called).

Welcome aboard.

This is a very good deal. A brand new (newest style) steg goes for around $50 and they sell on ebay for around $40-45 with a used one/already glued ones sell for $35-$40. Saurus warriors now come in boxes of 10 each selling for around $25 online on up. So just in the saurus alone you have $100+. Id snatch it up! :D

So now, I have to watch out for you on Craigslist.....

I live in Brunswick. West of Frederick MD.

Haha, same here. I saw the ad and actually talked to him once about what the ancients were. I probably would have bought it if there were temple guard, but I had most of the stuff he was listing and didn't need most of the stuff.

I'm near Baltimore, play at St. Thomas GW in Owings Mills.

I'm actually helping a friend open the shop where I'll be playing right now. Going to be in Fell's Point in Baltimore (on Aliceanna street). It'll probably be open sometime in January.

Store where I used to play closed down (and had a terrible game room).

Take it easy now! Saurus warriors sell in boxes of 16 separately with 20 in a battalion, not 10.

Id make sure its for current models if anything. That would be my only potential deal breaker. Even with them being old models it wouldn't be a bad deal on your part.

Depending on the model I'd take older versions if possible.
For instance the old Salamanders.
