8th Ed. New player questions

So I'm making my first fantasy army lizardmen, played 40k for a while but only recently decided to play fantasy as well. Anyway I have a few questions.

1. What is the size of the top part of the bases? 25mm, 20mm, etc. Are the "walls" of all bases consistently angled? I ask this as I want to start making the tiled bases with plasticard before the models arrive.

2. Any good way of representing a battle standard on a slaan? I can't think of anywhere that wouldn't look tacked on, especially with the lizardmen's banner appearance.

3. Are stegadon engine of the gods worth the points? They seam effective on paper but also a little fragile and a huge target.

I'm sure there was plenty more that I'll think of in time, I'll add them when I do. Any responses are greatly appreciated.

#1 - You probably ought to just wait till you get the models, since they will come with bases for you to measure. Skinks are on 20mm, saurus 25mm, kroxigors 40mm. But all the walls on the bases are consistently angled nowadays, though I can't vouch for older GW stuff.

#3 - The day of the EotG seems to have passed, and it is more vulnerable now than ever, especially to artillery. You will probably want to not put characters on top of stegadons under the new rules.

Hmm, but isn't that the bottom part of the bases? My intention is to make plasticard tiles to stick on top.
