8th Ed. New Army Advice

Hi guys!
I am new to lizardmen,(literally, I only have the army book) and was wondering what would be a good (cheap) way to start of my army. All advice is appreciated!

Just watch ebay for a while. In 7th edition I would say get that battalion box, but in 8th I would say don't bother. The cavalry or the temple guard are probably not the first pieces you'll want to pick up now. Seems like most people will be rolling with 20+ model blocks of saurus supported by lots of skinks and salamanders, lead by a Slann.

I am not that big on slaans so I would get one later on. I was thinking on many saurus units with an oldblood leading. But since I don't know that much about the lizardmen, I don't know how an elite army would work out.

well you really want to start with saurus warriors. they are the core of the lizardmen and they really are tough guys. i would start there. i have 3 units of 20 and i feel like i don't have enough but that's just my opinion. and you really want skinks. you could read their stats and say what's the point, they are so easy to kill and blah blah, but they do far more than their worth. i've killed daemon princes, giants, trolls, ogres, etc. plenty of times with the skinks. you might even want to try a horde of skinks. you never know. then you can start off with whatever special units you feel you really like. i really like kroxigors and i still find the cold one calvary useful in certain battles or even just for fun. you do want stegadons and salamanders. especially in this new edition, salamanders have just taken over. hope this helps!! and don't forget to paint them!!!
