7th Ed. New and 1st List - 1500pts

Hello,
My name is Joe and I'm new to the forum. I was looking at getting into Lizardmen and had planned on my first purchase being two of the Battallion boxes as they seem to be a fair good value. So what I've done is created a list out of the two boxes contents and used extras from them to convert up to characters. Does this seem like a good starting point?

Seems pretty good considering what comes with the battallion set. Missing some of the neat utility units of course, but good for what you have to work with.

My goal for the boxes is to make a good core from which to work outwards into the army. Yeah this army doesn't have any utility units; but it's a solid base of units that I will probably use with a great consistency.

I guess a good question to ask you would be, what do you want your final army to look like? So far what you have is probably going to involve a Slann as your Lord, and will be a very heavily infantry-based army. At 1500 points, I think a sound choice would be to knock the two saurus units down to 15 each, and see if you can work a couple more skink units in. The units of 10 ranked skinks can play the tactical game fairly well, and should assist your wall o' saurus. I think each box comes with 24 skinks? So you should be able to make 2 units of 10 more of those after dropping some saurus.

Just bumping in... The list seems pretty nice basic what a Lizardmen army could look like for starters. Perhaps Sword of Might instead of Battle to challange some tough character your facing. 5x Str 5-6 attacks is something even dwarves dont like.

Ah btw.. Batt. Boxes come with 12 Skinks sadly.. in the end its still 24 skinks.. if you drop your saurus down to 15 you get 120 pts.. If you can get some more points loose you could get what Canaghem suggested.. as usual a good choice to do.
