I am new to fantasy (i am still learning the rules) but i have been playing 40k for 3-4 years now and have decided that i need a break from it with the changes in rules and meta. i have just got a lizard men army with 40 odd skinks with blow pipes, LOADS of sarous warriors, 40 odd temple guard, the big steggadon i think, a slann, lots of skink priests and the guy who rides the trex type thing. sorry for the spelling and the names but i have not seen the codex in 2 years.

could some body tell me what the best way to play this army is and can somebody please explain the magic system to me. oh and it would be nice if someone could remind me what edition we are in now :)

8th edition army book and BRB.

Check our fine tactica section. We can't tell you how to play.

Hey Tom - welcome to the forum.

I would suggest picking up the Army Book first - ebay it if you need to save some $. Also, pick up a little rule book on ebay - you can usually get one of those for around $20-30 USD.

From there, take a look at this thread:

http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/8th-edition-lm-tactica-index-newest-link-march-2nd-2015.8681/

Whilst I don't agree with everything everyone says on there - it is a breadth of knowledge, and should help speed up your learning curve greatly.

From there, practice is the best way to keep getting better. That, and understanding what is 'just bad luck this time' and what was poor play on your part (because we all do it). WFB is a game that really rewards your knowledge of what both you and your opponent can achieve with what is on the table, and your ability to adapt to the current situation.

Javelin Skinks, Cowboys, and a Slann - those are typically the core of a good start for playing this army.

Hope this helped.

i looked at that post this morning but didn't realize that they were links and assumed it was a work in progress. that is actually really helpful, thanks. i am looking at painting the army currently and will get the digital codex when i buy an ipad. thanks for the help :)
