8th Ed. Need advise!

Hi im the devilofthenorth and im new in this forum!

Im thinking of starting a lizardmen army but i dont know where to start really. (What hero is the best? Whats the best special unit? etc.)

So i was wondering if you guys could give me some advise on how to make a 1000 point army or something. My opponent is brettonia or high elves.

I would start with buying the Batalion box,
it's you best bargin, and it has all the core units you need
to start playing, with a littl creativity,
you can also make a couple heros with the kit.

What point size games will you be playing? Salamanders are rarely a bad choice when it comes to adding models to your army.

We will start playing at 1000 points so i guess the batalion set plus 2 heroes wont be to bad.

Any suggestions on wich hero is the best?

personally i don't like the batalion. You need at least 3 units to play, and the batalion gives you four, but the only good thing is the unit of 20 saurus warriors: 10 temple guards are almost useless, 12 skinks are nice but if you but them separately you'll have 24, and our cavalry isn't so good

My opinion is that the battalion box is good. I use skinks, saurus, and temple guard all of my lists over 1500 points. The cold ones are teh only sub-optimal unit in the box, but that doesnt really matter.

The box is still a good deal despite the cold ones
Sometimes you dont need to take a hard as nails list, cold ones can be fun and effective, they are just pricey
You can do what I did and just convert a temple guard + saurus + cold one into a Scar Veteran on a cold one.

The only build that the battalion box doesnt help with is making a skink cloud, which I dont have any fun playing as or against.

Also, Salamanders are the bee's knees, hard to go wrong with them.
