7th Ed. My First Lizard army at 2000 pts. for local Tourny

Hello, im new to Lizardmen, Im going to play on a tournament the next month. First I was going to take daemons, but last week I the store was on Sale, and bought a batallion box and a Razordon. I already had a box of warriors , a box of templeguard and the skinks sprue from the stegadon box. So, these are the models i can use:

1 Slann
20 templeguards
36 warriors
12 skinks
2 skinks priests from the stegadon sprue.

Im going to use a TG champion as a Scar VEt, the skinks will count as chamaleons.

This is the list:

1 Slann, cupped hands of the old ones, banehead. focus of mystery, focused rumnation, the becalming cogitation

1 skink priest, lvl 2, diadem of power

1 skink priest, lvl 2, rod of storm

1 scar veteran, charm of the jaguar warrior, light armour, shield, GW


3 x 10 warriors /spears


18 x Templeguard, std, chmp w/ statue of spite

2 x 5 chamaleons

6 x cold one cavalry, sun std of chotec


1 razordon


So far i could be facing :

Skavens with 3 locks
Empire with the guy in altar, priest, 2 x wizards
Vampire counts with manfred
2 x Warriors of Chaos balanced list
2 x Dwarfs Gunlines
High elves
O & G

What do you think of it, last week i tried it vs Vampire counts and worked very well.
Maybe Today ill face Dwarves or Chaos Warriors.
 
Why so many chameleons? And no normal skink skirmishers? This list seems somewhat lacking in the shooting area (and stegadon area, although that's forgivable as they're expensive).

Also, the lightning rod points would be better spent elsewhere, you'll probably get uranon with one of your priests and one use bound items aren't that useful. :)
 
tx for the feedback, the thing is that i only got 12 skinks as they come in the battallion box, that, and the razordon was the only thing in the store, the tourny is in less than a month and it takes a month or so to get the boxes. and with those models, i can do with 12 skinks or 2 units of chameleons. are they bad?
Id also love to get a stegadon, but i dont have the time to get it now. the closest thing i got as a stegadon is a Shaggot Lord.
 
Aha, I see.

No, chameleons are not bad, it's just that people generally don't use more than one unit of them. You have no terradons, though, so 10 chameleons will probably be needed (especially if you end up against a gun line).

Your list is saurus heavy, which is good seeing as you have few monsters, just keep in mind you will not move very fast.
 
Please refer to other army list forum posts. I've made heaps and they will probably be useful.
 
well, i talked to a friend who has some lizards, and is borrowing me few skinks. and as i have the parts to assmble the engine of the gods, ill see if i can make a conversion with something. I made some changes to the list.

Was thinkin on dropping a TG, the champion or maybe a cold one, to put some magic items in the priests.

what do you think of it?
 
Rather than dropping troops, think about dropping the sun-standard from the SCoC unit. They're probably not going to be taking enough shooting to make it worthwhile.
 
ok. so, take out the std and sun standard of chotec from teh cold one cavalry. with that i got 65 pts to spend, what do you suggest?
 
plaque of tepok, maybe the diadem of powah... you could put the feathered cloak (my favorite item) on the foot priest for great channeling tactics :smug:
 
yeah i got that in mind, except the cloak of feathers, istnt diadem of power too much for defense? other wise, that sounds really nice

and that is exactly the points i got left :)
 
Not bad mate, but you can free up more points for more troops-->

1 Slann, cupped hands of the old ones, bane head (DROP-Doesn't work on spells unless its been specifically FAQ'D), focus of mystery, focused rumnation, becalming cogitation (DROP- too situational and a massive 50 points), bsb

1 skink priest, lvl 2, Ancient Stegadon EoTG (Make level 1. Frees up 35 points, heavans magic useless. Less levels of magic is better for tournament composition scores. He is here for the Eotg, not much else.

1 skink priest, lvl 2 (DROP. Unessasary. OR make level one with cloak of feathers for channeling line of sight goodness)

1 scar veteran, light armor, shield, GW, charm of the jaguar warrior

10 warriors, spears (Try to make a unit of 18, 6x3, fll command)

10 skinks skirmishers, blowpipes

10 skinks skirmishers, blowpipes


18 TG, std, chmp (With the slann inside, this is a 22 strong unit. How do you plane to rank them? Get 16 or 20, so you can rank them 5x4 or 6x4 [6x4 better] when the slann is in the unit.

6 Cold one Cavalry, sun standard of chotec (drop sun standard, and mabye one rider. These are so crap)

1 Razordon Hunting pack

---With the points left over, start by making the saurus unit bigger and giving them full command. Then buy a unit of 5 chameleon skinks. Then buy skink skirmishers.---

Enjoy your games no matter what list you take.
 
well how is that Banehead doesnt work on spells? ive been playing with it in 2 games with Lore of DEath, and casting Steal Soul on the nominated target.

if that doesnt work, maybe ill put it on my Scar VEt. But im gonna feel sad if iwas playing it wrong :(

The list is definately evolving. There are some things that should have been done differently before, but seeing as your list is now at this point, i'll just comment on it so far.

Slann, BSB, Focus of Mystery, <- This setup is fine, Bane Head does work (Slann is causing wounds)
Focused Rumnation, Bane head,
cupped hands of the old ones

Skink lvl2, Diadem of power <- Good for defense.

Skink lvl 1, Clock of feathers <- Good to channel.

Scar Vet, LA, SH, GW, <- I never liked this setup, but you have enough magic to make it work.
charm of the Jaguar Warrior

17 Warriors, spears (6 wide) <- Put scar vet in here, to make 18 warriors strong.

12 Warriors, spears (6 wide) <- This is fine.

10 Skinks skirmishers <- Good. Marchblock/harass.

10 skinks skirmishers <- Good. Marchblock/harass.

10 skinks <- Fine, for redirecting, screening.

10 skinks <- Fine, for redirecting, screening.

17 Templeguard, std, chmp <- Drop to 16, rank 5x4, these guys are tough enough anyway.

6 Cold one cavalry <- I never liked CoR, but obviously your short on models. So its good enough.


1 razordon hunting pack <- These guys work better in one unit of 3.

1 salamander hunting pack <-Since you can't get 3 razordons, take a second salamander unit.
 
ok, if i take out one Temple guard, what can i do with those points?
 
Do you have extra handlers on your rares? If you don't, get em. If you do, I'll get back to you on that one...
 
I was just noticing that if you take out the one temple guard and lose the champion as well as the shield on your scar-vet (he has a great weapon and will be in a unit) you have enough points to make your lvl. 1 priest lvl. 2 i just figure if your going to be magic heavy might as well go all out

I agree, I love lvl 2 priests
 
I use level 1 priests for points efficient scroll caddies. If I expect them to cast anything, I definitely give them the level 2 upgrade.
 
Yeah a magic level upgrade sounds like a really good idea...
