8th Ed. My first ever Lizards list 2k

Hello to everyone first off, i have been reading these forums for a couple of days now and have found them very informative.
I am brand new to Lizardmen i have no models (do have the army book) but i get paid tomorrow and plan to buy 2k points straight off the bat.
My previous armies have been Empire but mainly Wood Elves with the new edition i thought i would get involved in a new army . I play within a small gaming community the armies we have are WoC , VC , DE , HE , Skaven , O&G , Daemons .(but highly competitive)
The problem i have is i have never even played against Lizardmen . Lizardmen i find aesthetically pleasing so im going with them.
Below is my current attempt at 2k all comments are more than welcome infact i want them i will take them as gospel as i know no better (;p)

Thats my list i do like to make an all comers list as when we play our campaign we play on a use what list u brung (Unless you are first to challenge)

looks good. it could use a scar-vet or two. And the current consensus is that under 8th ed spears are useless unless you got alot of ranks

4 ranks of 6 is enough for spears. You want at least one extra rank as a buffer.

Champions in lizardmen are rarely worth it, and if they are used it is to protect a character which your saurus units wont have.

If you can find the points to upgrade the stegadon to an Ancient it would be highly worth it. I am still up in the air about using stegadons at all in 8th.

You are very character light, and could probably do with a Scar-vet or two to bolster those saurus blocks depending on your local game environment.

Thankyou for the feed back this is my second try i have dropped the steg to allow for a couple of scar-vets (the reason i included the steg was mainly cause i like the model)

Looks good, and yeah the stegadon is a great looking model.

good list, be sure to keep at-least one of the Vets in the TG unit, its because the Slaan can not get sucked into a duel unless some on steps up (luckily the new rules is only one duel per combat) So keeping a vet as a body guard lets you escape having the slaan murdered in two different combats (if thats not enough you probably were gona lose that game any way). Thast why i suggested the Vet, 8th ed new challenging rules are kinda brutal.
