So, as a way to get myself back into painting, I've set up a small army to knock out, and because my Slann loves to not be productive every game, I figure I'd run with the new plastic Old Blood (though if you think I should drop him down to a Vet for points, let me know). As I'm doing this off of a list I wrote and not the books (at school right now) if anyone has any suggestions to fill out the 40 points (ward save on the BSB?), let me know.

• Old Blood- Armor of Fortune, Piranha Blade, Shield: 216
• Scar Veteran- Battle Standard Bearer, Venom of the Firefly Frog, Light Armor, Shield: 123
• Skink Priest- Level 2, Dispel Scroll: 125
• Saurus Warriors x18- Full Command: 228
• Saurus Warriors x18- Full Command: 228
• Skink Skirmishers x10: 70
• Skink Skirmishers x10: 70
• Stegadon: 235
• Salamander Hunting Pack-Extra Handler: 80

I don't recall the points cost, but Crown of Command would be good on the BSB. Or add 2 Saurus to each unit (4 total) and you'll be at 1499. That'll give you 4 full ranks for each instead of 3 like you have now.

I generally run my guys 6 wide, though if you think 5 is better, I can try it.
With the Crown I could toss the Luckstone on him. I could also give him the Talisman of Endurance and the Dragonhelm.

I run mine 6 wide too. I was just thinking of ways to fill up your extra points.

With 20 models it's kind of a toss up between running them 6 wide with 2 extra ranks and 5 wide with 3 extra ranks. The first way you have 3 more attacks, so potentially 3 more wounds, but if you lose 4 guys you are dropped to a rank bonus of 1. With the other unit you have less attacks, but you can lose 1 before you are dropped to a rank bonus of 2 and 6 before you are dropped to 1. Not to mention you frontage is smaller, meaning you may have a little less attacks coming at you.

You can always reform. Either way, having more saurus in a unit is good even if your last rank is ragged.
