Hi there,

Just wondering which is the best BSB for the Lizardmen?

Second people say the Slann can be the BSB as well. Where in the book or rules does it say he can be a BSB?

The Slann has a special rule unlike any other in that be may be BSB and general and cary magic equioment at the same time.

*It's in the lizardmen book

Best part of having Slann as the BSB is that he can theoretically take 200 points of magic.
Worst thing is that he's worth his point cost, the general cost and the bsb cost in victory points. Couple that with a Temple Guard unit and the unit's standard(if you take one), and you really need to make sure you're careful with him.

Slann BSB is the norm. The downside as mentioned is that if you lose the Slann you lose everything.

Slann BSBs without Temple Guard bunkers are risky. Especially since BSBs auto-die if broken.

Scar Veteran BSBs are the norm for lists without a Slann. They also are good BSBs for lists with Temple-Guard free Slann. The solo Slann no longer autodies if broken and the BSB can join your main block instead of floating behind it.

Scar Veteran BSBs should be on foot if deployed with infantry and you are expecting cannons and rock throwers (a mounted character in an infantry block gets no look out sir). If you aren't facing artillery a Scar Veteran on a Cold One makes a fine BSB adding 2 points to the rider's armor save and making the whole unit cause Fear. A Scar Veteran BSB gets a lookout sir on a cold one when in a unit of Cold One Cavalry. That's a viable BSB option in a Fast Attack army.

Skink Chief BSBs are generally to be avoided unless you are running a fluffy skink themed list. They are too brittle. A Skink Chief BSB on a Stegadon gets an 18" area of effect but putting him on a Stegadon only makes him more vulnerable.

If you aren't taking a Slann BSB you should probably go without a magic standard because it's generally more important to give your BSB magical protective items than it is to give him a better standard.
