AoS List help! I am new to 3.0

[Panama]

Hello!
Last year I built myself an army, then before I could get into playing, the Navy had covid pandemic forced me to put my army aside.

Now I'm back and things have changed! Apperently we're in 3.0 and I have no idea what's going on.

Below is a list of my models and i would live a bit of help putting a nice little starting force together with what I have.

20 Warriors with spears.

15 Knights with spears

Scar vet on carno with spear

Trog.

Sun blood

3 salamander with hunting parties. (3d printed)

3 krox. (3d printed)

A star priest/priest (kit bashed)

Ravenak's gnashing jaws

And a slann.

Might have enough kicking around to kit bash a scar vet on cold one and a priest

How should I put this together for 3.0? Likelihood is I'll hop into the next escalation League at my local shop when ever they get things going again.

I'm hesitative about running the 3d proxys since I've been told some places don't meet you run them.

P.s. I know he isn't great but I live the trog and want to field him

Welcome to Lustria! So what you have isn't the most cohesive force unfortunately. Question, are you open to buying additional models or can you only work with what you have?

For starters you can ask if you can proxy the Saurus Guard with some of you Saurus Warriors. A Stegadon is iconic and Monster are really good in 3.0 so buy some, they're awesome!

I think if you want to field a Trog this should set you up. Just remember Koatl's Claw isn't that strong right now and if you buy a Stegadon you maybe want to buy more and go for a Thunder Lizard's List next.

So in 3.0 are guards a more usable unit then they were before ? I'm thinking you're selling me on thunder lizards

OK. In that case the list that 2hands provided would be a good starting point. Saurus guard are very useful now, I'd always recommend a unit of 5 assuming you're fielding either a slann or kroak, which having one of them in your list is also mandatory imo.

Something else to consider would be to proxy your Trog as an engine of the gods, if your local store or gaming group would allow it. As 2hands mentioned, the trog isn't very good. It's only somewhat playable as a range extender for kroak or in starborne lists to generate summoning points, but those won't apply for you. The engine, on the other hand, is very good now
